Curtain Falls on THINK Together's 2010 Summer Learning Programs

THINK Together's 2010 Summer Learning Day Showcase events have wrapped up and by all accounts the celebrations like the 5-week summer learning program were a big success. With the support of THINK Together, Santa Ana Unified School District Students were able to participate in the summer learning and enrichment program at a time when most other school districts in the region were unable to offer anything similar.

The slideshow below highlights the Showcase activities at Martin Elementary School which was chosen to host media and community leaders along with parents, volunteers and teachers/administrators.

Santa Ana Students Participate in OC Performing Arts Center / The Broadway League Workshops

Click arrow below to view slideshow here

Students participating in THINK Together’s summer learning programs at Century and Valley High Schools in Santa Ana will attend an August 12th performance of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Tony Award winning musical “In The Heights” at the Orange County Performing Arts Center. This opportunity and a series of workshops prior to the performance are made possible through The Center’s education department and with support from The Broadway League.

Prior to seeing the show about, 70 local students will have participated in three workshops to help them appreciate and understand the performance they’ll see and experience first-hand what goes into creating and performing a Broadway show. Ruben Garfias and Cynthia McGarity, educators and actors themselves, have each visited the high schools and conducted workshops introducing skills and techniques on stage that are useful in other settings as well. Students will also participate in a post-performance "Talk Back," meeting artists from the show and having the opportunity to ask them questions about their performance, roles and careers.

Thank you to The Center's Jason Holland, Ginger Johnson and Tim Dunn for all you did to make this possible for the students.
